This week’s pre-recorded Music at Midday concert features American composer and organist Carson Cooman in a program of works by four living composers. Carson Cooman holds degrees in music from Harvard University and Carnegie Mellon University and since 2006 has held the position of Composer in Residence at the Memorial Church, Harvard University.

You may use this link to view the YouTube premiere this Friday, April 23, at 12:15 p.m. or to enjoy the concert at any time afterwards. The full program includes biographical information about the composers and performer along with a listing of donors to Music at Midday.

This week’s program features the following works, all composed within the past twenty years:

  • Fyrarna (The Lighthouses) (2002) – Villemo Daneling
  • Ricercare (1992) – Guy Bovet
  • abhanden (méditations sur l’orgue 3) (2021) – Eva-Maria Houben

Good news! We are planning to return to in-person concerts beginning on Friday, May 7, at 12:15 p.m. As spring flowers into full bloom and we prepare to celebrate Mother’s Day, the organ and piano duo of Chuyoung and Erick Wm. Suter will perform Sergei Rachmaninoff’s romantic Piano Concerto No. 2. The concert will be performed live and will also be live streamed or recorded.
