Rev. Stephanie Kendell,

Senior Minister & President 

The Rev. Stephanie Kendell (She | Elle |Ella) is the Senior Minister and President of National City Christian Church and Foundation, the National Cathedral of the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) in Washington, D.C. She is the first woman to hold these positions in National City’s near 100-year history. Rev. Stephanie’s ministry is committed to seeking justice and joy for all of creation and is affirming and inclusive of women and LGBTQIA+ people. Her work is anti-racist, intergenerational, and intentionally interfaith. Rev. Stephanie seeks to lift and center the voices and experiences of those who have been historically and systemically marginalized in our world. Rev. Stephanie is an accomplished pastor, preacher, activist, and author with gifts in engaged preaching, liberating biblical interpretation, sustainable financial visions, and inclusive community building. She was the co-host of the popular podcast, the Two on One Project (2020-2023) and her book Are You Still Watching: Using Pop Culture to Tune in, Find God, and Get Renewed for Another Season can be found anywhere you get your books (but she encourages you to shop local!). From 2019-2023 She served as the First Vice-Moderator for the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) in the United States and Canada and from 2017-2022 was the first female Executive Minister and C.O.O. of the historic Park Avenue Christian Church in New York City. Before her call to ministry, Stephanie was a theatrical marketing Producer and Director of Operations for one of the industry’s largest global agencies. Outside of ministry, Stephanie is passionate about women’s sports and has traveled the world to support the USWNT. Stephanie lives in the Washington D.C. with her partner, their pets, and a whole lot of hope for the world.
