Please join us at National City Christian Church this Friday, October 25, at 12:15 p.m., as we welcome Czech organist Ondřej Horňas to perform this week’s free weekly Music at Midday recital. This Friday’s program includes great organ music by Czech composers:

  • Fantasie on the Symphonic Poem “Vysehrad” by Bedřich Smetana – Josef Klička
  • Moldau – Bedřich Smetana

Ondřej Horňas regularly plays concerts not only in his native Czechia but also in the United States, Germany, Austria, France, and Slovakia. He often accompanies choirs, vocalists, and instrumentalists. After graduating from the Conservatory in Olomouc, he continued studying at the Janáček Music Academy in Brno under the tutelage of Pavel Černý. In the school year 2015-2016 within the Erasmus program he studied at the Institut supérieur des ARTS de Toulouse. He received a master’s degree from The Academy of Performing Arts in Prague. While studying at the Conservatory, he represented the school at showcases in the cities of Olomouc and Pardubice. He has participated in several organ competitions, including the 2nd Jan Kucharski International Organ Competition 2011 in Łódź, Poland, the International Organ Competition Premio Elvira Di Renna 2016 in Salerno, Italy, and the Boëllmann-Gigout concours 2016 in Strasbourg, France.
