Please join us this Friday, November 5, at 12:15 p.m., for our free weekly Music at Midday concert. We are delighted to be welcoming back David Brock, from Zephyr Springs, Nevada, who is returning to his hometown to perform a rich program of music for the organ:
- Concert Variations on “The Star Spangled Banner” – Dudley Buck
- Mode of D, from “Eight Modal Pieces” – Jean Langlais
- Concerto for Organ, Op. 4, No. 1 in G minor/major – G. F. Handel (transcribed by David H. Brock)
- The Maple Leaf Rag – Scott Joplin (transcribed by David H. Brock)
David Brock currently serves as organist/accompanist at St. John’s Presbyterian Church, Reno, Nevada, and is the Organist and Continuo artist with TOCCATA and the Tahoe Symphony Orchestra and Chorus. He maintains an active organ recital schedule throughout the United States. Recent appearances have included Washington National Cathedral, the Cathedral of Our Lady of Angels, Los Angeles, First Lutheran Church, Venice, California, and the Virginia Theological Seminary Chapel, Alexandria, Virginia. Each August, David also produces a series of organ recitals in Northern Nevada – Hot August Pipes – which for the last 22 years, has brought concert organ literature to the region.
Currently the District of Columbia is requiring all persons, whether vaccinated or not, to wear masks at public indoor spaces. We will follow this and any other requirement put in place to protect the public health.
For those who are still not able to join us in person, we will be recording the concert and will post it later in the day on the church’s YouTube channel and Facebook page.
