Please join us at National City Christian Church this Friday, December 2, at 12:15 p.m., for our free weekly Music at Midday recital. This week we are welcoming organist Jacob Reed, who will perform a program of works that stretch over nearly 400 years:
- Pastoral – César Franck (1822-1890)
- Praeludium – Ellen Taaffe Zwilich (b. 1939)
- Mein junges Leben hat ein End – Jan Pieterszoon Sweelinck (1562-1621)
- Organ Sonata No. 3 in A Major – Felix Mendelssohn (1809-1847)
Jacob Reed is a PhD student in Music History and Theory at the University of Chicago, where he is a Neubauer Family Distinguished Doctoral Fellow and Organ Scholar at Rockefeller Memorial Chapel. He received bachelor’s and master’s degrees in music history and theory from Yale University and a Master of Music degree in organ performance from Yale’s School of Music/Institute of Sacred Music. Jacob has performed across the U.S., Europe and Canada, and has been artist-in-residence at the Uncommon Music Festival in Sitka, Alaska.
Currently the wearing of masks is optional but highly recommended. For those who are not able to join us in person, we will be recording the concert and will post it on the church’s YouTube channel and Facebook page.
