Please join us at National City Christian Church on Friday, June 13, at 12:15 p.m., for our free weekly Music at Midday concert. This week we are welcoming organist and scholar Jacob Reed, who will perform organ music by Samuel Coleridge-Taylor, an early twentieth-century British composer of Creole descent; and Fela Sowande, a mid-century Nigerian composer:
- Three Impromptus (I. Allegro, ma non troppo; II. Molto moderato; III. Allegro molto) – Samuel Coleridge-Taylor
- Three Short Pieces (I. Arietta; II. Melody; III. Elegy) – Samuel Coleridge-Taylor
- Yoruba Lament – Fela Sowande
- Go Down Moses – Fela Sowande
Jacob Reed is Lecturer in Harpsichord at the University of Wisconsin–Madison and a PhD student in Music History and Theory at the University of Chicago, where he is a Neubauer Family Distinguished Doctoral Fellow, and Organ Scholar at Rockefeller Memorial Chapel. In 2023–24, he played Bach at Bond, a series of 30 recitals presenting the complete organ works of Johann Sebastian Bach. Read more at jacobreedorgan.com
