Please join us at National City Christian Church this Friday, September 13, at 12:15 p.m., as we welcome organist and scholar Jacob Reed to perform a program of music by great composers:

  • Postlude in G – Fanny Hensel
  • Andante in F – W. A. Mozart
  • Concerto in C (after Vivaldi’s “Grosso Mogul”) – J. S. Bach

Jacob Reed is a PhD student in Music History and Theory at the University of Chicago, where he is a Neubauer Family Distinguished Doctoral Fellow, and Organ Scholar at Rockefeller Memorial Chapel. In 2023–24, he played Bach at Bond, a series of 30 recitals presenting the complete organ works of Johann Sebastian Bach. Jacob received a simultaneous BA/MA in music history and theory (double-major in mathematics) from Yale University, where he studied organ with Thomas Murray and harpsichord with Arthur Haas. He then graduated with an MM in organ performance from Yale’s School of Music/Institute of Sacred Music, studying with Martin Jean and serving as Organ Scholar at Grace Church in New York City. Jacob has performed across the U.S., Europe and Canada, and has been artist-in-residence at the Uncommon Music Festival in Sitka, Alaska.
