Please join us at National City Christian Church this Friday, September 23, at 12:15 p.m., for our free weekly Music at Midday recital. This week we are welcoming organist Justus (Jay) Parrotta, who will be performing a program of music that he has entitled “A Fall Flourish”:
- O Ignee Spiritus – Hildegard von Bingen. arr. Mark Winges
- Praeludium in E Minor (Kleine) – Nicolaus Bruhns
- Pastorale – Christopher Hoh
- Three Autumn Sketches after a Watercolor by Maria Wilscher – Carson Cooman
- Carillon on “Lasst uns Erfreuen” – Justus Parrotta
Justus (Jay) Parrotta is an award-winning organist and composer. He holds Bachelor’s, Master’s, and Doctor of Musical Arts degrees from the Benjamin T. Rome School of Music of The Catholic University of America, with concentrations in organ performance and composition. Dr. Parrotta currently serves as Organist and Music Coordinator at Epiphany Catholic Church (Georgetown), and as Organist and Schola Director at Immaculate Conception Church (Shaw-Mount Vernon), both in Washington D.C. He will be joined for the opening piece by soprano Rosa Lamoreaux, who has performed at various venues in Washington, New York, and Paris.
Currently the wearing of masks is optional but highly recommended. For those who are not able to join us in person, we will be recording the concert and will post it on the church’s YouTube channel and Facebook page.
