Please join us at National City Christian Church this Friday, May 8, at 12:15 p.m., for our free weekly Music at Midday concert. We are delighted to be welcoming back Chicago musicians Sara Su Jones and Tatyana Stepanova to perform a program of music for violin and piano by women composers:
- Romances (I. Andante molto; III. Leidenschaftlich schnell) – Clara Schumann
- Two Pieces (Butterflying; Slicked Back Tango) – Elena Kats-Chemin
- Lied – Marguerite Canal
- Elfentanz – Florence Price
- Nocturne – Lili Boulanger
- Emotiva – Clarice Assad
- Capriccio – Cecile Chaminade
As duo partners for more than 17 years, Chicago-based violinist Sara Su Jones and pianist Tatyana Stepanova have given recitals at the Harvard Club of New York as well as in Reykjavik, Iceland; Washington, DC; and Andover, Massachusetts, in addition to multiple “Live from WFMT” broadcasts in Chicago. The duo’s eclectic, creative programs often highlight striking but little-known works, particularly those by women.
If you are unable to join us in person, you may view a livestream on our YouTube channel (Friends of National City Christian Church) or on our Facebook page (National City Christian Church). You may also view a recording afterwards at those same sites.
