Please join us at National City Christian Church on Friday, June 6, at 12:15 p.m., for our free weekly Music at Midday concert. As WorldPride celebrations take place all over the Washington area, we are delighted to be welcoming organist Timothy Duhr to perform music by LGBTQ+ composers, including the world premiere of a new work by New York City composer Buck McDaniel:

  • Fanfare for the Common Man – Aaron Copland
  • Hudson Preludes (1. Take Care) – Nico Muhly
  • Du, O shönes Weltgebäude! – Ethel Smyth
  • A Quaker Reader (IV and IX) – Ned Rorem
  • Altarpiece (after Keith Haring) – Buck McDaniel, World Premiere

Timothy Duhr currently serves as Director of Music and Operations at St. Margaret’s Episcopal Church in Washington, D.C. He was awarded the Doctor of Musical Arts in Organ Performance at the University of Houston’s Moores School of Music, where he taught music theory and aural skills. Prior to his studies in Houston, he taught similar subjects at Utah State University. He holds a bachelors degree from the University of Iowa, where he was a pupil of Delbert Disselhorst. Timothy earned his masters degree at the University of Notre Dame where he studied with Craig Cramer. He has served on the faculty of the Potomac Organ Institute.

If you are unable to join us in person, you may view a livestream on our YouTube channel (Friends of National City Christian Church) or on our Facebook page (National City Christian Church). You may also view a recording afterwards at those same sites.
