Please join us at National City Christian Church this Friday, March 11, at 12:15 p.m. for our free weekly Music at Midday concert. We are delighted to be welcoming organist Tyler Canonico, who will perform “An Afternoon of Spirituals,” celebrating the important African American musical and spiritual heritage of the spirituals:

  • This Little Light of Mine – Joe Utterback
  • Go Down, Moses – David Hurd
  • I Want Jesus to Walk with Me – Calvin Taylor
  • Swing Low, Sweet Chariot, Soon I Will Be Done, Deep River – arr. Richard Warner
  • Improvisation on ‘We Shall Overcome’ – Carl Haywood

“One of the east coast’s finest young concert organists and inspiring church musicians,” Tyler A. Canonico is the Minister of Music and Organist at Market Square
Presbyterian Church in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania.  He is a graduate of the University of Alabama in Tuscaloosa, Alabama where he received a Master of Music in Organ
Performance. He also holds a Bachelor of Arts in Music with a concentration in Organ Performance and Sacred Music from Lebanon Valley College in Annville, Pennsylvania. In addition to his work, he is the organist for the Harrisburg Symphony Orchestra, a co-founding member of Allegro con Fuoco, a keyboard duo with Jordan Markham, and is the Collaborative Pianist for the Central Pennsylvania Women’s Chorus.

National City Christian Church is still requiring attendees to wear masks at all times inside the building and to observe social distancing. For those who are not able to join us in person, we will be recording the concert and will post it later in the day on the church’s YouTube channel and Facebook page.
