For many years we have been the proud partner and home to the administrative offices of DC Metro non-profit, House of Ruth. So it was with a spirit of celebration that Pastor Stephanie and Rev. Tori joined them on Saturday, October 3 for their 50th Anniversary Homecoming Celebration of Hope and Healing, which House of Ruth described as “a celebration of empowering women, children, and families to rebuild their lives and heal from trauma, abuse, and houselessness.” The event was held across Thomas Circle at the National Association of Home Builders, and it featured local cuisine, impact experience stations, and live music.
House of Ruth began in 1976 as a housing-focused organization. Over the years, their work evolved to address a variety of needs accompanying houselessness and domestic violence, and they’ve grown to now operate 14 programs across the District of Columbia, providing access to housing, counseling, and child development services. The Foundation exists to provide a home in the nation’s capital for efforts that serve the physical and spiritual needs of God’s people, and House of Ruth improves the lives of people in our community every day.
Of the 50th anniversary celebration Senior Minister and President Rev. Stephanie Kendell shared, “House of Ruth does incredible work serving DC, and they have been long-time partners and neighbors in our building. We are grateful for the work they do and look forward to seeing their continued impact in our community.”
