National City Christian Church Foundation is pleased to welcome to our building WeCareDMV Day Services, Inc., an organization which has been serving adults with disabilities in the Washington, DC area for 75 years. Under the leadership of Executive Director Trevor DePass, WeCareDMV moved their offices to National City on August 1, where they operate out of the second floor conference room to offer daily support services to adults with intellectual disabilities, physical disabilities, and complex medical needs. Their mission is to advance independence, productivity, and inclusion in the community for the individuals they serve. WeCareDMV resumed their operations on August 4 and are now accepting new clients.

As the national church for the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ), National City Christian Church Foundation exists as part of our denomination’s broader commitment to maintaining a presence in the nation’s capital. That presence is both spiritual, with a worshipping community that meets every Sunday at 11am, as well as physical, with a building located in the heart of Washington, DC just five blocks from the White House. Our building houses ministry partners who serve the DC area and beyond to improve the lives of our neighbors near and far.

Welcoming an organization like WeCareDMV Day Services to our building helps us live out our commitment to create a place where people can receive the support they need to flourish. WeCareDMV’s programs aim to provide care, assistance, respect, and empowerment to the people they serve, which are values that make them a perfect fit for the work we do at 5 Thomas Circle.

Reflecting on this new partnership, Rev. Tori Wick, Executive Minister of National City, shared, “We are thrilled to welcome WeCareDMV Day Services not only because their mission is inspiring but because their presence is already teaching us how to think through our ministry in a more inclusive way. I’m proud that our building’s existing accessibility features made us a viable option for them when other buildings in the downtown area weren’t, and I’m looking forward to the ways that they will help us expand upon our accommodations to benefit everyone.”

We look forward to how our partnership with WeCareDMV will mutually strengthen both organizations as we work together to serve our greater community.
