Please join us at National City Christian Church on Friday, March 20, at 12:15 p.m., for our free weekly Music at Midday concert. In anticipation of Bach’s birthday later this month, organist Jordan Prescott will perform selections from “Dritter Teil der Clavier-Übung.” Also known as the “German Organ Mass,” this collection is considered by many to be Bach’s most significant and extensive work for the organ. Friday’s program will include five chorale preludes and the celebrated Prelude and Fugue in E-flat Major:

  • Prelude in E-flat Major, BWV 552/a
  • Kyrie, Gott Vater in Ewigkeit, BWV 669
  • Christe, aller Welt Trost, BWV 670
  • Kyrie, Gott heiliger Geist, BWV 671
  • Vater unser im Himmelreich, BWV 682
  • Aus tiefer Not schrei ich zu dir, BWV 686
  • Fugue in E-flat Major, BWV 552/b

Hailed as an “organ star” (The Baltimore Sun) whose playing “encompass[es] the church in a wild wind” (The Washington Post), Jordan Prescott has distinguished himself as an organist, conductor, and scholar with a sensitive, versatile, and striking artistry. A highly-sought-after performer, Jordan enjoys an active recital career in such esteemed venues as the Piccolo Spoleto Festival (Charleston), the Church of St. Mary the Virgin and St. Thomas Fifth Avenue (New York City), the Cathedral of St. Philip (Atlanta), Grace Cathedral (San Francisco), and the West Point Military Academy Cadet Chapel. His 2024 performance at the 2024 Organ Historical Society national convention was lauded as “masterful, “stately,” and full of virtuosity imbued with “a sense of ease and playfulness” (The Tracker). Dr. Prescott is Organist-Choirmaster at Grace & St. Peter’s Episcopal Church in Baltimore and serves on the music theory faculty at the Peabody Conservatory.
