Please join us at National City Christian Church this Friday, June 19, at 12:15 p.m., for our free weekly Music at Midday concert. This week we present a special Juneteenth Recital cosponsored by the African Heritage and Cultural Institute and performed by organist and Howard University Professor Mickey Thomas Terry. Dr. Terry will be presenting a program of great music by great composers:

  • Cinq Improvisations (Te Deum) – Charles Tournemire
  • Variations of the Hymn Tune MARYTON – Noel Da Costa
  • Arietta – Thomas H. Kerr
  • Toccata in C – J. S. Bach
  • Fantasia un Fuge uber den Choral ‘Ad nos, ad salutarem undam’ – Franz Liszt

Following the recital, everyone is invited to the church’s Community Room for a free reception with food and beverages, where we can continue the celebration and have the opportunity to greet Dr. Terry. This reception is made possible by a generous grant from the Christian Church Capital Area.

Mickey Thomas Terry is a critically acclaimed concert organist, scholar, and educator based in Washington, DC. He holds degrees from East Carolina University and a Ph.D. from Georgetown University. A prize-winner in national organ competitions, Dr. Terry has performed throughout the United States and the Caribbean, appeared at the Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts, and been broadcast on American Public Media’s Pipedreams.
