Please join us at National City Christian Church this Friday, February 21, at 12:15 p.m., as we welcome organist and composer Roy L. Belfield, Jr., to perform a program he has entitled “The Organ Music of My Teachers, Mentors, and Colleagues.” During this Black History Month, Dr. Belfield has selected works by several notable African American composers with whom he has worked or studied.
This Friday’s program includes:

Roy L. Belfield, Jr., a native of Petersburg, Virginia, began his undergraduate studies in music at Dillard University in New Orleans, Louisiana. He earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in music from Morehouse College in Atlanta, two Master’s degrees in music education and organ performance from Florida State University in Tallahassee, and the Doctor of Musical Arts degree in organ performance from the University of Missouri-Kansas City Conservatory of Music. As composer and arranger, Dr. Belfield has written works for chorus, voice and piano, and organ. Dr. Belfield is Director of Choirs and College Organist at Goucher College, accompanist for the Deer Creek Chorale and Youth Choir, and Frederick Chorale.
