Music at Midday is proud to be presenting twice-weekly virtual concerts, today featuring the organ and piano duo of Peggy Brengle and Nathan K. Lively. performing together from their respective churches in Westminster, Maryland and Stamford, Connecticut. We are grateful fo Peggy, Nathan, and all of the musicians who have made this series possible.

Peggy and Nathan have titled their program Meditations: A Recital during a Pandemic. Here is what they wrote about today’s concert: “This program is stitched together with the pulse of a meditation or prayer– calming and stirring. We offer this brief program in memory of those who have died during the COVID-19 pandemic and in honor of this heroes who have protected us. May these pieces bring you peace.”

Peggy Brengle is the organist at Westminster United Methodist Church in Westminster, MD where
her husband, Kyler, is Director of Music. Peggy is a graduate of Maryville College (TN) with a
Bachelor of Music Education degree, and holds a Masters of Music degree in choral conducting
from the University of Tennessee- Knoxville. She received a Master of Science degree and
administrative certification from Western Maryland College (McDaniel College).
She is retired from teaching music and as a library media specialist for Carroll County Public Schools
(MD). Peggy accompanies extensively for public school choruses, student instrumentalists, guest and
local artists. She is a staff accompanist for McDaniel College. She has performed piano and organ
works throughout Maryland, Virginia, Pennsylvania, Connecticut, and Tennessee with various
keyboard duet partners. Nathan and Peggy performed at historic Bruton Parish (Williamsburg, VA)
2015 and 2017. They performed a concert for two organs and two organists at the Cathedral-
Basilica of St. Augustine, in St. Augustine, FL in March 2019. The duo performed at St. Patrick’s Cathedral, NYC in February 2020.
Currently, Peggy is a member of the American Guild of Organists (AGO) and serves as the Dean of
the Central Maryland Chapter.

Nathan Kyle Lively is a nationally recognized musician. He is an active performer, educator,
collaborative artist, and church musician. He was hailed by the Chicago Tribune in 2015 as one of
the nation’s leading young organists.

As a performing artist, Nathan has appeared widely on the East Coast and in the Midwest. Notable
venues are St. Patrick’s Cathedral and Central Synagogue, New York City; Heinz Chapel, Pittsburgh;
and Saints Peter and Paul Catholic Church, Chicago. He plays frequently at the historic Bruton
Parish Church, in colonialWilliamsburg, Virginia, and has performed multiple times in St. Augustine,
FL. While Nathan enjoys performing solo recitals, he often collaborates with other artists.
Nathan currently is Director of Music at St. John’s Lutheran Church, Stamford, CT, which houses
Richard & Fowkes, Op. 5. Nathan previously served as Director of Music Ministries at Holy Trinity
Lutheran Church, Kingsport, Tennessee. Nathan is a member of the American Guild of Organists
(NYC & Greater Hartford Chapters).
